Talking Greetings from Ohio

Hello all, picked me up this amazing machine just this past Friday. Cosmetically she's rough and needs some love but mechanically she's sound as a pound and growling. What an amazing feeling/sounding machine, not regretting it in the least. Only 14k miles with a new set of Pirelli Angel GT's, and new brake pads!

I just stripped her down and fixed a host of wiring issues because the previous owner wasn't familiar with the concepts. (Such a mess and a couple of blown fuses) The previous owner put a custom kickstand on it because the original broke off so it requires a custom linkage. Well that broke on the ride home so I had to toe and heel the shift selector (bruised my heal bit) but I made it. Went this weekend to this awesome shop we have here, got parts, and made a custom linkage for it. The bead on my weld isn't pretty but it holds true.

Question, what's the best oil type? I usually run a synth blend to allow particulates to be carried away by the conventional but I'm curious what people use in this bike.

Good question. I used to run Honda 10w-40, but switched to Castrol GTX 10w-40; never had any problems. I am sure most people are using synthetics though.

Welcome. Search first for anything oil or tires related. If you start another what's the best oil thread, you'll be flamed in your Birkenstocks.
J/K,

Seriously, more important than oil brand is changing it regularly. Dino oil, change at 2500-3000. Syn oil, 3000-5000 miles. Depends a lot on rider style, and climate to a small degree.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking I'll stick with my blend and change it as frequently as fossil depending on how the clutch performs. The case and science for each is so close. From the way I understand it in simplest terms it's longevity that being determined by eventual breakdown due to inevitable contamination from combustion.

She is a great bike, so much fun in the turns. I love how it carries you in them.

Got an electrical issue now. If anyone wants to give some input it would be greatly appreciated.
