: Lightweight battery

I've been working so much that I'm behind in my projects.
But I finally was able to order and receive my Speed-Cell battery.
Not only is it small, but it will lose a lot of weight over the stock battery.
The blue connector is the quick-disconnect feature.
Only 1.8 lbs/681 gm.
Measures: (L) 115mm x (W) 57mm x (H) 69mm

At least as long as a regular battery will last.
The size is due to new technology with higher energy density.
The nice thing about these batteries is they only to a certain degree (2%), then stop.
So you could disconnect these things and lay them on a shelf for months and they'll stay charged.

Nope, they're for racing or for regular use (which is what I'll use it for).
I've been holding off buying one while they've been testing them on the track.
No problems encountered so far.
So I decided to buy one.

It's a quarter of the weight and like 1/8 the size. I'd say the same as SubSailor's. I think it's still in the development stages though. And his you do not have to disconnect... Goes by the name BrowningBuck.

The quick-disconnect was an extra option, you can get it with or without.
I just got it to make it real handy if I'm working on the bike.
It's real nice option if you're running a total loss system for the track.
The battery will charge in 1/2 hr. from full discharged state.

Defender 09-14-2009, 12:36 PM Sub and jgos are right about these. I spoke with Jason, one of the owners at length about these. The specs are amazing. These are DOD spec Li-Fe cells which are far more stable than the Li-Ion batteries used in other applications (these are not prone to exploding). They are rated for 1000 cycles of being drained from a fully charged state to fully discharged. That may not sound like much, but since these batteries deliver constant amperage until they are nearly fully discharged, chances are you will never fully discharge it if you are running this on a factory charging system. And they recharge in about 10 minutes on a standard 5 amp or greater charger. (Trickle chargers are not compatible with these cells.)
Also, the wieght savings high up top in the chassis is worth the price alone. I'm getting one soon myself.

I'm gonna help my old buddy Gipper out today. I'll start by saying they crank over very easily. This is a very powerful battery for its size. The Superbike battery is gonna run you about $250.
SUPERSPORT Specs:
