: Shinko Tires
Anyone running Shinko rubber on their Rc....I currently have Michelin's on my bike and its defitnely time for new rubber....I've read alot of mixed reviews on them and not sure...Nice price, though....I ride more in the country than in the city, if that helps
SubSailor 10-15-2009, 01:45 PM The drag racers love 'em cause they're cheap.
They burn through rear tires super quick, and the Shinko's are essentially throw away tires.
About the cheapest premium multi-compound tires are Bridgestone and Continental.
Both are usually within around $10-20 of each other.
The old Pirelli Diablo single compound series (which is still being made) are a very good inexpensive tires.
I ran them for years with no complaints, and currently have a new set on my 'Busa.
The complete set was only $190, rather than $200+ for just a rear.
I'd see if anyone is having a sale on these.
subyrex03 11-19-2009, 01:10 AM I've had a set on my bike and they seem to go pretty quickly. I had the 003's they stick when I needed them to and spun when I wanted them to. I still keep them as a back up if something goes wrong with my michelins. I'm running 2ct on the front and Road Pilot 2's which are 2cts on the rear! I've had the rears on for a while now and won't go with anything else now for the back! They hold up really well!
jgos929 11-20-2009, 11:20 AM If you do any sort of agressive turning stay away from the Shinko's.
Yea... upon futher research , I think ill stick to michelin or pirelli....preciate the info...ill def be looking for a deal them...
Tonesteeno 12-08-2009, 04:33 PM How are the dunlop qualifiers?
How are the dunlop qualifiers?my first bike had a set of dunlop 208's..i guess they were all right...i recall pulling out the drive way one morn and almost wrecked because they were slick...after they warmed up they were still slick.....just not my choice
E-Loc540 12-25-2009, 05:08 PM I dont run them on my big bikes but I run them on my motocross, supermoto race bike and my supermoto stunt bikes. As you can see I put alot of trust in them. Pulling stoppies at 60+ is no problem on the Shinko 003's or 009's.

Just put a set of Dunlop Sportmax Q2's on this weekend, and so far they're not too shabby.

BoNeCrUsHeR3d 01-28-2010, 01:55 PM mich. power pures just got them/ love them
gobi42 02-02-2010, 03:26 PM well i have ran both the shinko 005 and 009 on my rc the 005 were the better turning tire if your on a budget and want to ride pretty hard can't beat them the 009 held up longer got about 6k out of them versus 3l on the 005 however i lost some cornering but if you can run the perelli diablo rosso's they stick great and the rear lasted me about 5k and you can still rail corners hard with them or sit back and cruise my choice tire by far. but they only cost me a little over 260 a set :)
screamin chief 04-11-2010, 06:58 PM got bridgestones BT16s last season. Best tires ive ever had
erick1670 04-13-2010, 09:10 PM at the moment I just put a set of GP-A9 for my track day Medium front and soft rear and they felt great on rails...
I got 5k out of my Pilot Powers & 12k out of my Shinko 009's, dont compare for warm up between the two, but for a budget tire they work great, you get what you pay for:)

The BT-016's are a really good tire for the price.
Deaner3D 08-22-2010, 08:12 PM In 1998 the Shinko Group purchased the motorcycle tire technology and molds from Yokohama Rubber Co., and began production of these products under the Shinko Tire brand.
Just a blurb from their website. I run Shinkos on my SV650 and they're pretty good. It took a bit to get used to the more aggressive lean-in compared to my old Dunlops(stock) though.
subyrex03 08-23-2010, 03:23 AM I ran a set of 003's on my RC51 and didn't have any problems with them. They just wear out pretty quickly though, although I was running them on an RC! I still have the set as a spare if whatever i'm running on it now goes away or whatever.

+1 on the q2s im getting a set in a few weeks
659tmaxx 03-16-2011, 08:07 AM i've ran shinko,s for 2 years . the only shinko i would run is 010 or 011 !(newest shinko tires)the 010 super sticky .the 011 is a little bit harder compound for higher mileage but a very good tire. not impressed 009,005 . o ya michelin owns shinko. all shinko tires accept 010,011 are based off michelin design.
Ridgeback 03-16-2011, 10:49 AM I got a good deal at Cycle Gear ($215 for the pair) on Dunlop Q2's and they feel good so far. They are supposed to have a good tread life too.
I dont think I could buy a "cheaper" tire, it would always be in the back of my head while im riding.

send me that link please because the cycle gear im looking at is over $300 for both tires in the Q2
jondog9 03-18-2011, 01:27 AM My local Cycle Gear is high on the Q2's also. Guess they don't want to jump into the fray of sales on those tires. Cause I found them all over the internet for $200-250/delivered price range. I paid 222.98 delivered for mine. Hahaha then I took them to Cycle gear for mounting and balancing (and valve stems, and disposal, and sales tax) $70. Little high, but to their credit, they give me back my tires CLEAN. And not a scratch on the rims. That's value too. imo

thats not that high unless around here is super high
if a wheel is still mounted on the bike its $45 per wheel for all that here.
so add $90 to a set of tires.
