OKay i am relatively new to the bike. It is a 2000 with 1650 miles and after a 2000$ bill for various things they tell me i need new injectors cause they load up during idle, they also charged me 3 hours for cleaning injectors, didnt help much. The bike seemed to get worse and worse as i rode it around, whenever the bike is idling it requires throttle manipulation to keep it alive. It also wont start without throttle manipulation when its warm. The tech recommended running techron thru the bike for 300-400 miles and see if that fixed anything, if not i would need new injectors... 600$ Out the door! ANyone got recommendations and/or suggestions? thanks

Your bike is running way, way rich?
This has happened before to other bikes.
I suggest checking/replacing the fuel pressure regulator located on the throttle body.
They can fail towards the lean or rich side.

In the diagram below, it's item 25.
Part number 16740-MCF-013, around $40.25

Thank you for a very fast reply. I ordered the part. Just wondering how hard it is to install, thinkin maybe do it myself.

Also how confident are you that that is the issue?
I did think the bike was running rich anyways, the smell of fuel is VERY strong and when revved the exhaust is smoggy.

I had an 01 with the same problems that you describe and changed mine and has been running fine for 8 months now. Is not hard to do, took me less than an hour to change it, you just take the air box off and it is right there. http://www.rc51forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=754 this is a link to the discussion we had earlier in the year about the pressure regulator.

I hate those shops that feed and scavenge off people. I work on all my own crap and I do it better than any shop would. Clean injectors for 3 hours? WOW! It takes a 12 volt battery, aresol injector cleaner, compressed air and 5 minutes. WTF?

Its kinda funny cuz now my bike wont idle at all. It will cut out if I dont give it gas at idle. then I decel it sounds like i turned off the key. Luckly I bought a fuel pressure reg when I first got this thing cuz I heard of problems with them....

Mine was doing something very similar. Disconnected power commander, problem gone.

have on '01 with the same problem disconnected Power Commander. Still have the problem, since the thread died I suppose the regulator was the issue. Guess I am ordering one today. Some tech has helped me out by stripping the screw in the front right of the airbox, any suggestions besides an EZ out which is the only thing I can think of.... this is the screw with the deep shroud above it...

That was the problem... Bike running well again.

BIKE IS ANNOYING!!!!! I NEED HELP
Here is the situation, thought it was the bank angle sensor and then got one off ebay
The sensor was plugged in and the bike fired up but it shut off after riding for lik 10 minutes and had to push it off the road. What happened is it could only fire up and keep idling when tilted like in the position with the stand down but if straihtened up it shuts off then let it to cool down for like 30 minutes after that i dint shut off when straightened up thereby hitting the road again but still shut off after like 15 minutes and went through the wholw process agian and agian but the dealer couldn't also figureout what was wrong.
Then main thing is while tilted like in the side stand position, it fires up and keeps the idling but when straightened up like getting ready to go it shuts off.. Could anyone have an idea of what might be wrong? Thank you.......

So it runs fine with no problems as long as it's on the side stand?
But when straightened, it dies only after 15 minutes of riding or does it also die if only righted vertically?
Does it always take 20 minutes to fire back up or will it start immediately if placed on the side stand again?
I'm just trying to clarify if the problem immediately occurs and corrects itself, or there is some time element involved.

Yes its runs fine when its on side stand...First if its cool it will run for 15 minutes and then die so after that it will only run with the side stand down but die when rightened vertically and keeps doing that.
After shutting off, It will start immediately if placed on the side stand but die when rightened verticaly

Well that's good to know.

While luckily I never had any operating problems, the wiring I inherited from the previous owner had enough butchery that I had to replace all of the harnesses.
