I'm planning on installing Hi-Comp pistons of my SP1 ('00) can you guys advise on things to look out for, any other recommendations?

Should be relatively straightforward.
As long as the cams are installed properly and the valve clearances are good, I don't see a problem.
The stock cams shouldn't have lift and overlap issues to be a problem with interference.
If you had custom cams with high lift and duration and/or adjustable cam timing gears, then piston to valve clearance would be critical.

Whatkind of gains can be expected from high comp pistons? Would all/most of the gains be at the top end? How about cost? Thanks for any info in advance.
