Good day fellow RC'ers. Purchased my baby about 3 months ago, have been burning fuel to the tune of 70 miles to a tank. I am sure I should be getting closer to 150!

I have check the all connections to the gas tank to make sure there are not any pinched lines. Nothing out of the ordinary. However after reading a few forms I have noticed that the previous owner did remove the FLAPPER MOD. I have only heard of this done on race bikes. Could this be my problem. I did notice after popping the tank off that there are lines that are plugged by screws and 2 plugs that are not attached to anything. Please advise!!!!

The flapper valve was just a noise abatement device, nothing more.
It closed between 4000 to 6000 RPM and blocked about 65% of the intake area.
It lessened intake roar to allow the bike to pass EPA noise regulations.

My bike doesn't have it and I get between 130 to 140 miles to the tank with average riding. And that calculates roughly to 28 MPG.

There must be some other reason you're mileage is that bad.
I mean a 4.8 Gal tank with 70 miles only nets 15 MPG.
That's horrible by even RC51 standards.

You could have some cloged/dirty injectors. BTW Hey Sub did you get my PM in chain and sprokets?
I would also check to see if your injector o-rings arent leaking. (I'm only saying this cuz, I work on toyota's for a living. Just things that I've ran into over the years.
