: Good Deal?
RC_ryder02 06-07-2011, 05:16 PM I'm looking to buy my first rc51 and found a near by 2002 model with 13,000 miles on it for $5400. Is that an average price range? It has a few add-ons including exhaust and fender eliminator...(the usual goodies for an RC51). What all should I look for if I go to check the bike out? I don't know much about these bikes. Thanks! :D
madbuyer 06-07-2011, 06:30 PM Pending on your area that is too high for most places. $3500~$4000 is closer to reality.
erbgottie 06-07-2011, 06:39 PM will agree with madbuyer, $5400 seems kind of steep..........just remember these engines are well built, i bought mine in AUG 2009 with 23k and now have 36k with few to no problems so don't let "mileage" be too much of a factor. See what you can talk them down to if you're really interested

RC_ryder02 06-07-2011, 06:56 PM Yeah i figured that was kind of steep. I guess that's why it's still for sale, having been listed for a while. I live in NC and there's not many of those bikes around that I can find. I don't want to rush into buying one without getting to know things about these bikes first. Anyone here from NC area?
erbgottie 06-07-2011, 07:24 PM where you at in NC, I grew up a little south of Winston-Salem, NC and still go down ther often
RC_ryder02 06-07-2011, 07:48 PM I'm from around hickory area
erbgottie 06-07-2011, 07:54 PM nice, my parents are in Mocksville......45 minutes from Hickory........you get that bike let me know and I'll get down there
RC_ryder02 06-08-2011, 09:02 AM Alright sounds good. It's got two-brothers carbon fiber oval slip-ons. Is that a decent set up for the sp2's?
screamin chief 06-08-2011, 06:47 PM not awful. people have complained about the two bros quality. people have also said that carbon isnt a great choice for the engine pulse of the rc. I have just installed the 2bros hi mount in the black series aluminum and i have to say it sounds better than my Akra. But we will have to see how it lasts...
erbgottie 06-09-2011, 08:32 PM I had an old pair of 2 bros on mine when i bought and they werent that great..........but the Sato low mount carbon fiber's i have on now are pretty darn good
budoka 07-09-2011, 04:11 PM Surprised that you like the sound of the Two Bros bertter than the Akras screamin chief. I have no experience with Two Bros on a v-twin, only I-4s and ST1300s and I wouldn't choose them again, don't last worth spit IMO. Pretty happy with the Aks I've had on CBRs and would probably choose them again if I decide to change the RC pipes. It's getting difficult now with the nioise laws and all so. Be hard pressed to turn down a pair of Satos if I find em tho.
spurline 09-02-2011, 08:36 AM I got my 2003 for $3650. There was a lot of bargaining involved, but I think the $5400 is steep.
isnen 11-18-2011, 05:19 AM that is nice dealing, I am also in search of second hand and also need to sale old one.
lhvRC 01-06-2012, 08:27 AM i got my 2000 w/13k miles with exhaust and a buncha other goodies on it for $4000, and a helmet and jacket which i never uesed btw if anyone wants em they can have both for next to nothing.
jondog9 01-06-2012, 10:41 AM What sizes on the helmet and jacket?
Prices are going down even more on our beloved RC51's. I saw a beautifully equiped 2001 for $3000...
lhvRC 01-06-2012, 02:30 PM jacket and helmet are both extra large, the jacket is big but not to big on me so i think its a smaller running XL, its a Joe Rocket honda jacket, adn some zuzuki helmet, the guy gave them to my beacuse i just went to look at the bike wasnt planning on picking it up that day, and i had nothing when i ended up buying it on the spot.
Color01 01-08-2012, 05:00 AM I paid almost 2 years ago 3300 bucks for my 02...with 13000 miles and sato pipes and new tires.
