So here's a little video a friend did for me in LA this Thanksgiving holiday.
This was two days after they got a torrential rain storm, and there were plenty of wet spots and loose dirt. (About 1:30 in you can see my rear tire slip.) We were on Latigo Cyn, the Snake on Mulholland Drive, and came out on Tuna Canyon. Several other canyon roads that all interconnected, just cant remember the names. That was my first time on any of those roads, so I rode pretty conservative. Especially after being warned about the hundreds of crashes that have happened there. But there were plenty of dry and sunshiny stretches, so still a really fun ride. And the scenery!!! Did about a 80 mile loop that day. Got one more ride in on Saturday up and down Pacific Coast Highway with another friend of the family that's now a new riding buddy!

Have him leave his sister's music behind if you go Shonuff.....the roads looked nice enough.

I'm familiar with Tulare. Got a good story - for another thread.
Are you anywhere near the Hwy 33 I've heard about? Maybe Shonuff could meet somewhere and we could ride that way?

I guess the music is appropriate since you were riding in Barbie's (Malibu) neighborhood....:D

Try a little Mastodon or FFDP....that will keep you movin' fast(er)

Ill have to do some budgeting before I can get back to you with a day but hopefully it will be soon. Rockintwisties, I have seen John make full use of his tires and push them damn hard at a very respectable lean. We are lucky here in CA to have such nice roads and the weather to make them accessible nearly year round.

You want to ride a road with lots of switchbacks? Try riding up or down Tantalus Dr. in Honolulu.
Some are 1st geat 180 turns. Plus single lane bridges across rifts in the mountain.
The scenic view at the rest area is great.
Then it's onward to the downward leg.
A similar road, Kolekole Rd. through Kolekole Pass on Makaha side that leads over to Scholfield barracks. Another tight twisty snake of a road with a nice view at the top.

That sounds very cool SubSailor! But I don't have to get my bike to that tiny little remote island to find 1st gear 180 switchbacks. Got some of those right here in my home state.
But I'd love to ride a RC51 in Hawaii. Like the northwest end of the Hwy to Hana on Maui! It would be scenic and challanging like what you described.

Nice looking riding JDOG. Man I saw that slip  that looked like a real dirty stretch lots of dust. I am planning on coming to the GP Laguna race next year 2013, and want to plan about 2 or 3 days of riding in the week before. Got a buddy that lives in southern CA. OH yeah I love the 25th VFR too one of my favs!!! RIDE SAFE Hoovy

Thanks HOOVY. I could have gotten some better action shots, just not that day. Never found a good comfortable groove that day. Brand new ride to me, and those surprise patches of dust/dirt...
I know you been thru the mill recently. I hope you're riding very very soon, and here's wishing you a ton more miles! Starting this spring!

Been going to watch this for a while, just never got to it. I'm a day's ride to get to anything like that, and 3-4 tall long days to get to the actual spot:(. Yer a lucky dood is all I can say. Yup, saw the rear squiggle and the dust...give you a moment's butterflies? Don't worry about the chides and pokes from the members, no point in binning it just for the sharper lean angle, There's enough vids of the Mulholland prangs on youtube already, doesn't need to be someone I know of!;)

Thanks budoka. Thats pretty much what I was thinking that day. Binning it = bad. Mulholland prangs = bad. jondog no likey bad. ;)

Yup, me no likey bad neither. My b-i-l came so close to doning a major get-off many years ago near Sherman Pass in north WA it wasn't funny. We were high arsing it on that nice road on a beautiful clear day (great conditions) and we came around a sharp righ to discover the highway dept had decided to remove a huge chunk of the pavement (full width and about 50 feet long) and fill it with gravel. I got straightened out before going in, but Stac was doing the best reverse immitation of a flat tracker I've ever seen on an Interceptor. Handle bars countered, boot down and power-slid through to the other side. I wasn't even thinking about me I was so busy watching him. From what I've seen, Malibu cnayon doesn't give that much quarter to the unwary.
