: back fire sp1 2000
paulkryszczuk 01-06-2012, 04:43 PM Hi i have a problem with my sp1 2000 , I have back fire . You can see on this movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C4hG8itMvs . That's cool but i think thats its not good to engine . When i make a litle bit longer a exhaust system (you can see on this movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Qh583U-NhW8#t=44s )problem was gone . But i think engine dont have a power .I dont make a dyno run . And my sp1 take lot o fuel 70mil and i have yellow light to tank . So what can i do with this ?
And sorry for my langue i come from europe .
SubSailor 01-06-2012, 07:46 PM This is normal if the PAIR emission control system is still intact.
The PAIR system allows clean air to enter the exhaust during times of low pressure (like when your throttle is closed) to promote additional burning of the exhaust.
When you briefly revved your engine, the extra air from the PAIR system raised the air/fuel ratio to a lean enough point where the unburnt fuel ignited (hence the pop).
mondo 01-06-2012, 09:30 PM I dont think the europe model had the pair system(here in NZ we got the europe model and mine does not have pair system), check the fuel pressure regulator.
madbuyer 01-06-2012, 10:29 PM Next item on your agenda is to get a custom map for your bike. Dyno is a must if you expect good performance. IMO

This is the pair valve ???
I dont have something like this in my bike , i think so .
An Earlier owner start at my bike in the race . So i have k%n filter . Clean snorkel without valve . And Leo vince exhaust . And could make some changes in injection system . Becouse when I give the full throtle and release throtle , and at this same time turn off the injection with the red button .There is no back fire .

Only Australian model(U)have not pair.

According to the UK service manual, the Euro E, ED, and F types did.
The U models shipped to Australia and NZ did not.
I've seen photos of Aussy valve covers and they only had unfinished castings for PAIR valves.
paulkryszczuk 01-07-2012, 12:12 PM so where should be located the pair valve in my bike ? in exhaust system ??
SubSailor 01-07-2012, 12:23 PM Here is where the PAIR valve is located on each cylinder head.
It's located next to the spark plug, with the hose attached.
Inside is a flame arrestor and reed valve.

MakisRC51 01-07-2012, 03:04 PM When I had my Two Brothers exhausts installed, I had a lot of pops when I closed the throttle like dear Sub said above. After a while i installed the PCIII usb with Dyno's map for 2bros and all the pops just gone. Even with the flapper fully on permanently......
paulkryszczuk 01-07-2012, 04:09 PM cool , yes i have pair
so what can i do with this ?
bay a power commander
SubSailor 01-07-2012, 09:53 PM A power commander will help with adjusting the air/fuel ratio to a proper amount, but the popping issue will remain due to the air injection into the exhaust.
For that you can disable the PAIR system.
That can be done via these instructions:
http://www.rc51.org/pair.htm
Instead of plugging the hose inlets, you can also use PAIR block-off plates as well.

paulkryszczuk 01-08-2012, 03:16 AM thanxx :D i wille remowe this shit tooday I owe you bear

Yep and the hole in the cylinder head has not been machined for the system.
When I had my pc3 tuned, the tuner actually asked me If I wanted it to pop a little on closed throttle, NO I said (A few ducati owners asked for this, must be a cool thing to do!)
And get rid of those K&N filters and replace with standard ones.
jondog9 01-08-2012, 02:45 PM This might help you.

COBRA90GT 01-09-2012, 09:33 AM Unrelated - those Leo Vince cans sound nice !
All the various regions in the world had the PAIR system installed on the SP1/SP2 except the AUS/NZ region.
paulkryszczuk 01-12-2012, 03:55 AM cool I remove pair system , and problem gone :D
MakisRC51 01-12-2012, 04:26 AM cool I remove pair system , and problem gone :D
That fact probably means that you have excessive unburnt fuel in your headers (too rich A/F)....you should check that just in case.
