Does anybody know where to get some good front flush mounts? I bought some from cyclegear that seem alright but they were cheap....another question, when I took the blinker off, it didn't look like there was a place to disconnect them from the back of the blinker....do I have to cut the wires and attach new connectors or can I just pull the wires out?

I myself am using Proton flush mounts. Gregg's Customs are pretty good too.
The Proton's are bright, have signal and running lights, and can be set to three different flash patterns.
Neither Protons nor Gregg's are cheap.
Unfortunately, they don't come with connectors.
Since my bike didn't come with OEM blinkers (it came with crappy Lockhart-Phillips flush-mounts), I had to buy a set of signals only to cannibalize for the connectors.

I guess my question is do I need to chop the wire bundle doing to the stock blinkers and then rewire them with connectors or are there connectors stock?

I used a set of front blinkers and cut the wires with connectors coming from them.
I then used those connectors and some butt splices to wire my flush mounts.
Then I was able to connect the flush-mounts using the signal connectors.

BTW I had to replace my wiring harnesses (plural) because the previous owner (for lack of a better description, I'll call him the "idiot") was too lazy to do the job right and butchered the harnesses to splice onto his turn signals.

Trust me, those wiring harnesses are far more expensive than some turn signals.
Please do the job right.

And also buy a tube of dielectric grease and put a liberal dab onto every electrical connector and battery post.
Great stuff. Prevents corrosion and waterproofs those connectors. Also allows you to disconnect them easier.
And put a dab on each spark plug boot. Prevents the rubber from sticking to the plug porcelain.

Did you have any problems with the Protons blinking at a high rate? My last mod was an undertail, which nearly doubled the blinks per minute because of less resistance with the LED's. If I install the Protons, I'm affraid I'll increase the blinking rate yet again.

Yeah they blink at a faster rate, but I'm ok with that.
The faster blink may catch their eyes quicker.
But if you want a normal blink rate, you don't have to buy a electronic flasher.
All you have to do is buy a couple of power resistors and place one in parallel to each rear signal light.
That will cause enough current to flow so the thermal type flasher will work properly.
I'm thinking about 8 ohm 20W should be enough.

They're bright, but the camera makes them look brighter.

While I like my Protons, I didn't like the Lockhart-Phillips that were installed.
They were the generic flush mounts that didn't fit worth crap.
The Protons are molded to fit into the exact cutout in the body panel opening.
Then they are secured by a nut and large washer to tighten them on the back of the panel.

I've been struggling to find anything here in Oz that I'll be happy with. I'm currently looking at some Oxford Saturn LED indicators. I think they'll be small enough to be out of the way and asthetically better, but bright enough to be better than standard. Fingers crossed! I'll get some pics up once completed.
