My friend just bought an 2000 RC51 with about 12,000 miles on it. Is there anything we should look for or get fixed or a known problem with the bike from that year. Maybe a minor upgrade that will help out a lot. I no that he has one side of the air intake blocked off because he said that it keeps the ram air open. Is this true? Just any info would be greatly appreciated.

Some 2000's had issues with the gas tank leaking and I think it was on the lower left part of the tank.

Have your buddy go to www.rc51.org and check out the mod page (that part is free to view).
