Beginning the search

Hi all,

I'm getting back into the street scene. I'm at the age where I want a bike that I will enjoy riding for many years to come. Not interested in the latest, fastest, race bike. I want something that gives me enjoyment. Enter the RC51. I used to own a TL-R and my buddy has owned a couple RC's. I've got my heart set on one.

Here's my question

Have any of you guys experienced difficulties locating replacement parts/maintenance issues?

Since the RC has been out of production since '06, I wondering if it will be troublesome maintaining a bike that is 10+ years old. (More as time goes on.) I don't want to keep buying and selling bikes. I want one that I can keep till I get old enough to not enjoy it any longer. I understand the Honda V-twin is pretty bullet proof. I'm not hard on my bikes, but I want to take care of it with ease. A lot of these bikes have been raced, crashed, sent to the great parking lot in the sky. Are there still parts available for them???

What are youy thoughts?

Thanks.

It's not hard to maintain at all (only issues I've had is a leaking tank at the back weld which is fairly common and cracks forming in the header pipes), it's remembering to maintain that is important. Some parts are hard to come by and others not so much depending on the demand of the part such as radiators or tanks, which are usually always in high demand. If the bike is treated well (roof over it's head and fresh oil in its belly) and maintenance is being doing on time you'll have no problems and I'm pretty sure someone will have my back on that.
