got my bike .....

Folks,

i got my bike today.... took a bit of time but i think i made a good deal... 2004 with 5200 miles 2nd owner......

its pretty much stock with a messed up rear fender, some scratches on tank and the fairing due to a fall over. it has a vance & hines exhaust.

let the money spending begin. what is an absolute must to change and or upgrade? what do you guys think?

Welcome!
Aside from fixing cosmetics (& getting rid of those red stripes!), first thing I'd do is probably get new tires unless you know they're quite new and you can trust them. Then I'd get a new shock - most popular seems to be an Ohlins from Dan Kyle, or another shock from another manufacturer if preferred. I'd also get the forks re-worked, or Ohlins internals if you're feeling flush.
Also 15/42 gearing if it hasn't already got that. Probably still on original chain & sprockets at this mileage I'd guess. There's a ton of things you can do to it... you won't run out of ideas for a while. Enjoy!

Euro RC51 SP2: HRC WSB Ti Hi-Level, T1 Airbox & Snorkel, PCIII, Dymag CA5 Carbon Wheels, Ti64 Spindles (F, R & Swing Arm), Mori Link, Maxton GP7 Shock & Ohlins 832 Forks, Brembo GP Calipers & SBK narrow track (F), Braketech Disc (R), Brembo billet Underslung x 2 Brembo RCS, Tyga Triple, 7075 Stem, Probolt Titanium all over, Babyface rearsets, MR Complete Carbon Lineup, Custom Undertail & CBR 1000 LED, Watsen LED Indicators, Harris Brace, Giles clip-ons, Corbin seat, etc. 2013 BOTY.

Puig's double bubble screen is (to me) better than a Zero Gravity one, as it's of the same thickness as original and allows use of the plastic strip molding on the top.

I'd say Goodridge build-a-line, if you can get these parts in the US. Can then get a perfect fit. I'd also sell the existing exhausts and get a Ladybird HRC before they stop being available + a carbon airbox & snorkel from Duckhunter & the obligatory Power Commander.
Simonkobejapan has a good (UK) map for this exhaust too.

But don't listen to me too much - I tend to go nuts on tuning / improving bikes. Most don't choose to go that far.

I'd say this. Noting but the best of what's currently available: http://www.ladybird.jp/EX/VTR1000SP2%20EX.html Not dissimilar to what NH rode with on his HRC bike and since you have a replica...
