first vtwin, have a question

I picked up a 00 RC51 originally for the motor and ecu from a guy who lost his title. I did a vin check and called local pd to see if it was stolen, turns out its clean. I decided I would ride it home to see how the motor really was and make sure all the gears were fine. Well 3 days later I find myself still playing with it. It's quite an amazing machine. I'm use to gsxrs and the ZX10, this is a whole new level of enjoyment.
As I'm sure you can guess I've decided instead of taking the motor for a project I've decided to hunt down another frame. Does anyone know what years of frames will interchange with the 2000?

Mechanically, the core engine component will fit across both variants of frames (SP1 an SP2).
It's the small details that complicate swapping things between the two variants (SP1 and SP2).
Which direction were you wishing to go?

Welcome to the RC51! It is an amazing machine, huh?
You didn't mention why you want a new frame.
I've only owned mine for a little over a year, so I don't know about interchanging. But I do believe, if you wanted to go this route, you can order a new frame from Honda. They take your old frame neck to destroy it and the VIN, then put that same VIN on your new frame. Another member here who's been around RC51's for a long time said that recently.

Otherwise, I've seen clean title frames come thru our forums classifieds. One guy in FL had one for sale a few months ago for really low, like $400 or maybe 500??

Yeah you can find guys who've parted out their bikes and have a frame or frame/swingarm combo with clear title.
You could even contact Ben at RC51parts.com as he has frames available at times.

I have always laughed at any vtwin while out riding, my garage consists of an 05 gsxr1000, 07 ZX10, and a ole where the 09 ZX6 was, now filled with the RC. I was skeptical but figured for what I gave the motor could be of some use. After riding it home I was amazed at the torque, consistent power curve, and ability to leave a Harley with no issue at all. I have HEARD of the RC51 and the TL1000 but was under the impression it would be a sluggish, underpowered, joke. Well, I was wrong. When you live in a town surrounded by harleys and see the slow, clumsy, overweight bikes try to leave a light to keep up you tend to get the impression that a vtwin is for sake of better words junk and not something that someone who grew up around sport bikes would ever get on. I was shocked when I rode off and after a few miles I decided It's simply amazing how Honda can take a vtwin and make this!! Personally I think Harley needs to take notes.

SubSalior, I plan to make it street legal so beings the previous owner raced it (so he says) he wasn't concerned about the title and has no idea what he did with it. If he wasn't such an ass I would ask him to file for a lost title but don't really care to get in touch with him again.

I hear both sides, some say it really doesn't do much, some say it does a lot. Do you jump the wire the same way with the pc3? I looked at the write up at http://www.rc51.org/mod.htm but at the end it said something about how the mod should look with the pc3, can't I just jump it at the ecu and do the same thing?
I just completed the fiberglass repairs from where the kid dropped it. Man I hate that stuff... there wasn't any saving the paint, obviously, so I went with a low gloss black. Should work till I get the frame and the fairings ordered. Still waiting on the guy at rc51 parts to let me know what years of frames I can use. I don't mind the black, but much prefer the stock look.

All the years except '04 had a black frame. The '04 was only offered with a polished frame, from what I understand. I believe the same holds true for the swingarm.

The '04 Hayden Replica was the only RC51 in the U.S. with polished frame and swingarm.
The rest were powder-coated black.
