Back in the saddle from Central CA
Hello all from central California! Its been a few years since I last rode but I feel the need to scratch the itch again!!!!!! So I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone here has done to their bikes as stock motorcycles are in my opinion anyway, a bit boring.
I'm interested in any mod that will loose weight on the bike, improve stopping, improve acceleration, improve handling, or make working/tinkering on them easier (that's half the fun of owning one). Not into the stunting scene at all but a good wheelie can be cool. Buttonwillow Raceway has been my main play area for probably the last 20 years or so with a season at Willow Springs back when WSMC was a thing. I had a slight mishap a few years ago right as I was changing jobs so I had to build up my sick leave balance just in case.
Checking out some of the bikes here has been interesting. Some of you guys really put a lot of effort and attention to detail into the old RC (I say that with the utmost respect). In my opinion the RC51 is one of the greatest bikes ever produced! Sure it's not the lightest, does not make the most HP, does not come with super trick carbon fiber bits or electronics, it's not the most expensive, nor does it handle the best but, it has more character in it's right clip on, than most bikes out there! And it probably the best looking production bike Honda has ever made! Not to mention it is the last competitive superbike Honda made before jumping on the inline 4 bandwagon! (which again, in my opinion was a dumb ass thing to do!)
So with that being said I am looking forward to learning even more about this great bike we all share!
