Battery age

I have my SP1 all apart to change the fluids and add a few things....I decided to have a closer look at the battery and couldn't believe what I saw.
The battery is a Western Power Sports CTZ12S with a date code of "10-02-02". I read this as October 2, 2002, but maybe its Feb 2010? I've never seen any battery go 11+ years. Anybody have any experience with this brand of battery and the date code to verify this?

I bought this bike in late 2010, and haven't had any issues with it, but I do keep it on the trickle charger if it sits for more than a few weeks.

Could be a manufactured code...does not necessarily mean that was when it was activated. Lead acid batteries can sit indefinitely as long as they stay dry and have no electrolyte added.

Could have been activated just before you bought the bike and now is only a few seasons old.
