05 rc51

I'm just getting back into riding after a 3 year hiatus. All my time (about 3 years) has been on I4 600's and have decided to give the RC a try. I'm going to look at an 05 that has 8600 miles on it in the next few days. Other than wreck or wear marks, what are some of the common issues I need to look for? Thanks in advance for the help.

Do a search, this is always talked about but my $0.02...

Look at the sight glass where you check the oil, if it has signs of etching (hazing or minute cracks inside) then the oil was left in the engine for extended amounts of time. (like over the winter or a long storage period)

Fork seals, make sure they are not dry rotted.

Brake and clutch fluid colors are not dark.

radiators don't leak...they are expensive to replace.

There are other countless things to look for once you get her home.

Thought about the search as right after I posted the question. Looking forward to finally having a bike with true character.

All things considered the RC is pretty darn reliable. Unless they are abused most problems are pretty minor.

Second gear snatchiness @ about 30 mph. Starter valves need synchro.
Leaking fork seals
Any sign of swing arm and/or main frame damage, walk.
Instrument panel: do all functions work?
Headstock/fork lock bolt still intact and hasn't been broken?
Check for rust inside gas tank, since it has real low miles.
They have the best build quality of any motorcycle made.
They are the second best for reliability next to CBR 1000RRs.
Check front brakes for disc rotor warping due to brakes not releasing, will need to clean pistons.
Poor running? check battery voltage first.
Information above from RIDE UK Honda SP1 and SP2/RC51 how to buy guide.
