holes in the frame

i have an '05 RC. that sticker on the right side of the frame with the VIN and build date was bothering me, i didn't like the look of it. so i got out the hair dryer, heated it up, and took it off. under it are two very small holes in the frame, about 1mm in diameter. is this normal? thanks, cavman

It's normal...I have an '05 with the same holes. I would also hang on to that sticker. I had a hell of a time getting it transferred in my name because it was registered out of state. That sticker confirms the VIN that's also stamped on the neck of the frame.

That is crazy that they worry about that stupid sticker. The vin stamped into the frame neck should be all that they need. I could get that sticker printed just about anywhere. That's like saying the sticker on the tank that tells me to use a helmet confirms the local helmet laws.

I'm always right.

I'm in California remember.. They wouldn't register it, so I had to go to the CHP so they could verify the VIN. Once they did that, I had to go BACK to the DMV with a form the CHP gave me. When I gave it to the DMV "lady", she said sorry, that's not going to work because they signed the form in the wrong place. I let her know that she's the one with the problem and I suggest she find a Supervisor to get this taken care of. Needless to say, I walked out of there with my RC in my name.

my brother lives in calif. also, so i know all about your rules and regulations. here in MN they don't look at anything except the title and you have to have the engine number. the sticker didn't come off easily, its in hundreds of little pieces. i know this will really get you, yearly license tabs are $17.
