Championships and Major Races Won.

Hey.

I've got a project going at the moment and for the sake of it, I'm trying to identify all the Championships and major races (e.g. Suzuka, Isle of Man, Le Mans etc.) won by the RC51.

I've got 2000 and 2002 for World Supers. AMA Supers 2002. Joey's Isle of Man F1 in 2000. Suzuka 2000-2003.

What gave you guys got?

AMA - 2002
IOM TT - 2000
Le mans 24hr - 2000-2003

I've got a feeling it only won Le Mans once. The win came just before a period of GSXR dominance. Could be wrong though.

you could be correct as i cant find any other sites supporting the fact they won it 3 times as only 1 site says that(the first one i clicked on), i can only find one leman's win myself and iirc that was 2000

Not sure if the bike did well in any of the "down under" championships, think the best result here was a 2nd in British superbike race

The RC51 was a transitional bike, and enjoyed success in the years between the 750cc and 1000cc four cylinder eras.
Honda has always considered their race bikes as a means to an end, and once that goal was achieved, it moved on to the next.
Honda may be nostalgic about keeping their race winners in a museum, but never on the track.
When the RC51 became non-competitive against 1000c I-4s, it was quickly dropped and replaced by the CBR1000RR versions.

The day they dropped 750cc's from World Supers was a sad one. Sure Ducati had the whole system rigged, but how many beautiful race homologations came about as a result of the old rules?!?

Don't get me wrong... I like a nice Fireblade or R1, but they're not exactly special.
