rc51 slow??

I am a new member here. Just got a 01 rc51 and im in love. I remember working at a harley dealer in high school and one of the techs had a rc51 . Always remembered that bike and 10yrs later i got one. anyhow I have been reading alot about people saying the rc51 is underpowered , overweight, slow etc.

I say to myself are you kidding me?? come on guys a frickin rm 125 got enough speed to kill you. motorcycles are not slow. yes i do understand there are FASTER bikes out there but come on to say its slow is seriously a joke t me.

no real point to this thread other than to vent an see what you guys think

Not slow for me and I'm used to riding R1s.

Get the gear wrong and you'll pay, but the midrange is huge.

Yes it's slow, fat and heavy by 2013 standards...but that's not what the allure of the RC is. It has pedigree, class and heritage.

I wouldn't trade it for 2 GSXR's.

yeah its certainly behind all the modern machinery in terms of outright performance, but as said its still a 1 liter 130bhp bike, its not slow, but its not exactly pushing the performance envelope to the edge either, one thing it does do better IMO than some of the modern machinery is it doesn't shake its head/bars angrily when your pushing it hard, its quite stable, kinda like the front end on a ZX7RR, but thats probably more to do with the more aggressive steering angle the modern bikes have on their setup

Not really worried about her speed, She is a classic, has a soul and is not a cookie cutter, dime a dozen kinda bike. Plus no matter where I park her, whether by herself or next to other bikes, she is the one that always gets the attention! I also love how people turn to look and see what that unique sound is when i'm cruising by.

alot of what you guys say i agree with. honestly i couldnt care if the 2013 cbrr1gsxrzxlmnopq whatever is faster because i realisticly couldnt go that fast anyhow. i honestly dont even plan on hitiing 100 mph on the rc. sure it might happen once but it isnt my burning desire to squid race or street race either. theyre will probably be little hyosungs blowin by me but oh well. I think alot of guys buy the newest thing because they feel like they have to to be cool. we dont have to worry about that rc51 is cool even if youre totally not. thats one of the many reasons i had to get one.
