Battery; source suggestion please

Found out my "sealed" battery has a leak ... was dripping on the swing arm.

Local shop wants $188 for a Yuasa YTZ12S

I see Honda East of Toledo has a YTZ12S for $118.55 ... better. Not sure what brand.

And eBay has tons of 'em for scary cheap (~$20 - $35) ... what's up with that??

I read where guys like the Shorai ... but where to get it? eBay has them for ~$175, but it's hard to tell which one to get ...

Call one of our site sponsors and ask for the forum pricing....better than retail.

BTW ... does anybody think the hot running RC could've contributed to my sealed battery springing a leak?

PO said he had just bought a new battery for it ... looks decent, can't tell if it's new though, and there's no date marked anywhere on it.

For sure the lead acid batteries are a thing of the past, just look at your swing arm...Get a Shorai your gonna freek when it comes delivered to you( you will think the box is mty) no shit that's how lite they are...Plus all the advantages over the lead prehistoric cave man battery... No charging for like a year or something like that...No mess,no fuss...

A couple brand come to mind when thinking about a new battery, liPoFe go with a 12cell. Shoria, alien motion, antigravity, and ballistic is a good place to start. I doubt that the heat from the rc would melt away at the seal, sounds like you just got that one in a hundred bad exper. For oem I guess you can go back with yuasa, tru gel or optima( I'm not sure if optima makes anything for bikes but I've always thought they were a good choice) if you decide on a liPoFe, try seeing who has the best warranty IMO I'd probably start w/ the first three brands. If you decide on the Shorai, go with the LFX18 model.
Don't short change yourself for the street with a smaller model.
These batteries only weight slightly over 2 lbs for the 18Ah.
I'd rather have excess capacity than not.

They go by Adventure power now, think it still the LFX18 part number. Got one couple months ago on ebay for
160ish. Seems to be good. Just the weight savings made it worth it! Im also a huge fan of not needing a tender.

Well, no site sponsors PM'd me, so I ordered a Shorai LFX18A1-BS12 for $155 from Honda East Toledo. Will see how it works out.

And ordered a new clutch lever for $27.23 from them while I was at it
