Quite helmet

I picked up an HJC CL16 when I got my rc51. Love it because it's "hi-viz". But it gets a little noisy on the inside with wind noise. Was wondering what are some less noisey helmets out there in $250-$500 price range?

No helmet is quiet by my standards...it's a bucket on the head which translates to wind noise.

Wear earplugs or risk hearing damage, my rule of thumb is over 60kmh (30 mph) or over 30 min wear your earplugs.

If your budget is $1,000, you should be fine

I have been wearing ear plugs with my helmet for a few years now....best bet to preserve your hearing.

Earplugs: Learn to love them. Your hearing will thank you as you age.

They come in decibel ratings. 29 thru 33 are the common ones at any drugstore. That's pretty heavy duty. I buy 22 - 25 when I can find them at where ever. Sears tool department, auto parts stores, your fav moto-shop, Cycle Gear, Industrial Safety Equipment supply, etc.

Yeah, I just recently started wearing ear plugs. Does make it a lot better than riding without. World of a difference with them in for sure. Just sucks when a person pulls up next to you at a light and wants to ask about your bike and which bike they should get haha like today after work.

A helmet with a neck skirt will cut down wind noise from turbulence quite a bit.
Combine that with a good set of earplugs, and you'll be just fine.
I currently use disposable -30 db earplugs with no problems (once you get used to them).
