RC51's are expensive in the motherland.

RC51's have always been expensive in the motherland.

Here's an example. http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c391565012
It's rare to see SP2's sell for less than $10000 (Equivalent in Yen) here unless they've been dropped & damaged.

SP1's are less desirable and usually around $6000 - $7000.

I think they're under priced in North America, so hang onto your's and keep it well.

Possibly, although it's really quite difficult to get a grey-imported bike registered in Japan.
Been there & done it. Was no picnic!

Yep (I was there for 10 years) but it would be worth the extra coin. Biggest problem is getting it to meet the stock Japaneses Spec. There were a couple bike which had to have a custom spec created. We had people who would take it to Tokyo for the inspection. This would help out.

Probably easier, being US Military - for sure. Would need to be pretty much standard spec. I think - incl. exhausts with original certification numbers on. Then there's no real private market in Japan & a dealer won't offer as much as it's worth...

Not so sure it's a money making opportunity, but just interesting to see the price gaps really.

Garage
Had mine for the better part of 9 years now, she is not going nowhere.
She is a part of me, been down together 3 times.
Were both still here to talk about it.
Also, I paid 9k for mine...
You either get it with the RC or you don't.

pretty much the same in Europe now. SP2's are rare, SP1's with high mileage go for 6-7k

I guess the US market is the only one that is still reasonable. I couldn't imagine paying 6-7k for a high mileage SP1. I guess I need to buying a shipping container and fill it up with old RC's and import them anywhere and cash in.
