hey gang, ran across this while looking for PCIII's -

The EX gives the following features

Features:
Works with Any Exhaust
Increased Horsepower & Torque
Dynamometer Tested & Development Maps
Rev X-tend (a $200 value) (Increase stock rev limiter)

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas / suggestions ??

The PCIIIUSB EX is the "street" version that complies with CA CARB/EPA regs as opposed to the PCIIIUSB "race" unit that the rest of the world buys.

Hey Sub, never got a response on this question....do I lose anything by going the EX route ? Will my bike produce less HP ?

Looks like the PCIIIEX does not allow any modification to air/fuel mapping from the mid-range down. Only mid-range to full throttle re-mapping is enabled.

This makes sense on stock bikes since no emissions control is in effect at full throttle anyways.
On bikes with lambda sensors, the sensors only fine tune the engine at low to mid-throttle conditions anyways.

If your bike ran lean from low to mid, there will be no change, and with a pipe, may even run worse.
It will only run better from mid to full throttle where you can modify the air/fuel ratio.

Thanks...so if I understand you correctly. I will ultimately be better off going the non-ex route for mapping purposes
