My top 10 would have been different too, unfortunately the RC would not have been #1 either. Maybe #3 though...

Ok not #1, but at least top 5. I know i am biased, so i would say easy #2. Reliable, rare, race pedigree

Keep in mind it is against other Honda's...so not like it lost out to a GSXR or something.

Never did much for me:

4. CBR600F Hurricane
7. NT650 Hawk GT
10. CB72 Hawk/CB77 Super Hawk ... too far before my time I guess

Liked these back in their day:

1. CB750 Four
6. VF750F Interceptor
9. CBX ... six friggin' cylinders What was not to love??

Always liked 'em and still do:

2. NR750 ... still bad to the bone.
3. RC30
5. CBR900RR (had two of 'em )
8. RC51 ... actually I'd say the RC looked too fat for me in the beginning. Maybe still, a little.

No mention of HRC involvement (one of the few bikes on that list with HRC design and fabrication, the holy grail of honda motorcycle development). No mention of the gear driven cams, and again one of the few bikes with that. Poorly researched imo. Deserves to be much much higher.

They put the cb750 as #1 for its impact on motorcycles. Yet the 900RR impact, which was very significant was put down below the nr750 which had zero impact on motorcycles. Talk about inconsistent evaluation. More disposable pop culture authoring.

I wouldn't have put the RC at one either, but definitely top 5.

2014 December BOTM Winner
2015 June BOTM Winner
