Question Intermittent FI Light

hey gang, on my ride home Friday the FI light started to blink ? Would stay on for a bit and then go away.....then come back and go away. No real pattern at all....I assume this is somewhat of a "Check Engine" light ??

Do I need to go back to Honda and have them diagnose ? As I am sure I can roll up to Pep Boys / AutoZone and have them read a code

Is there anything I can do ?

Hmmm, not real sure what to tell you on that one. I can speak from some personal experience w/mine. I noticed mine would do that a little here and there for a while, and what was causing it was a rapid roll off and roll on w/the throttle. Sometimes after hitting a bump in the road or something like that, and the jolt would cause a rapid movement in my throttle hand, i would get the light, but then it would go right back out and no problems.

Was it blinking in any kind of a repeating pattern, or just randomly blinking?
If blinking in a pattern, you can determine the code and cross reference in the service manual.
Download the service manual from this link:
http://www.rc51.info/index.php?page=service

If the blinking is more random in nature, I'd check my battery posts and ground connection for looseness for starters.

Hi Sub, it was VERY random....I will check the posts this evening. I have also been told it could be a servo issue ??

Servo? There's no servos on this bike.
Only various sensors.

If you haven't already done so, download the service manual and review the section on PGI-FI codes and accessing the stored FI codes.
You could view and then clear the current stored codes for when the problem returns.

An FI light randomly lighting may indicate poor electrical connections (esp. at the battery or ground connection) or problems with a sensor, wiring, or connector at the sensor.
