A or AC What the difference

when I go to find OEM parts, lets say at Honda East. When you get to the drop-down menu for model you have 2 choices. RVT1000R (A) or RVT1000R (AC). I see it for the other models as well but I was wondering what the difference was. If any.

A= 56 State friendly

AC= Peoples Republic of California, which has emission controls so the fruits and nuts can breathe

AC is a California bike, not sure what A is.
I've discovered that AC seems to be directly related to the 8th digit in your VIN. If you have a 4, its a Cali bike, (and AC parts), if you have a 3 (and A parts) it's a 49 state bike.
This is all speculation on my part, the A could also represent Euro bikes - I have no idea.

But anytime I order factory parts, it's the AC for my Cali bike.
