This is great news for me and the wife cause GM will be getting rid of Pontiac. That means that we'll be able to get that G8 we've been wanting for super cheap.

I feel sorry for the workers, but I don't feel sorry for the companies.
Especially Ford, and Chrysler.

Thanks to those two companies, I swore off domestic and embraced the Japanese, and have been utterly satisfied ever since.

My '89 Isuzu Trooper is more like a family member than vehicle.
It has been incredibly reliable and tough.

I swore off Japanese cars after working a stint with Honda as a service tech in the '80's" I'll take my Fords thank you. BTW, my son just finished his stint as a Honda tech and told me not much has changed. It's not a question of IF your Honda Odessey tranny will blow, but WHEN? Yep, even the '07's and newer are coming in.

I'll take my 5 speed Focus over a '00 Civic any time, my clutch is original with 170K, I've only tuned it, replaced a RS wheel bearing, and 1 timing belt as maintenance (after my son bashed the RS wheel enough to bend a tie rod) and tires/brakes. I bought the car used for $4K with 60K, and put 110K trouble free, 35 mpg miles on it. I refuse to sell it, the AC is still ice cold, it's comfortable, and rattle free.

I've owned many Fords, especially trucks, I've had nothing but the opposite experience with Fords. My '79 Ranchero was still in use up to a year ago, and hauled my CBR home after a break down. I finally succombed to the urging of a local kid who I sold it to, it needed restoration. That 351 M engine still purred, and the original FMX auto still shifted perfect. All it took was engine oil, Castrol GTX every 3000 miles, and a new automatic filter/oil change every 3 years. Hey man, to each his own, but I've owned many, from 1959 up, and have yet to have a lemon.

Actually Ford has very good quality these days; in fact they rival the Toyota’s.
My 2007 Mustang GT, while it does have low miles has been bullet proof so far.
Ford is the only one of the big three doing things “right” these days.

I had an 2006 mustang GT and the dash rattled..it didnt have any cats on it but still..I have a 95civic with 173k on it and it doesnt rattle one bit, still rides nice.

Be glad you didn't own an '82-'85 Mustang.
My seat broke through the floor pan.
Very unsettling with my butt hanging an inch off the pavement.
Traded it for the '86 SVO.
No more butt surfing, just all the paint and primer fell off of it.
I called it quits after that.

Everybody has good and bad stories.
What works for some, doesn't work for others.
And for me, Ford didn't work and I'm not willing to give them another chance.
For those with Ford success stories, I'm glad Ford improved their quality.

So that still more European money is not lost in America.

Es sollte Opel getrennt werden von GM.
