Horse Power vs. High Mount

I tried looking thru previous threads but I never saw a definitive answer so I will ask it the best way I know. Does the type of pipe adversely effect HP ?

Does a low mount pipe make more HP because the exhaust is delivered to the end quicker than the distance and turns of a high mount pipe ?

i know for a fact that muzzys tried a hi mount version for the zx7rr at daytona a few years back to make it easier to change the rear tire during pit stops. they lost so much horsepower that they tossed it for the normal. Now these are 2 different animals but the question is appropriate

'Ol reliable RC51.org states the Sato low mounts out perform the high mounts. Although, exhaust alone does not make the bike.

I have had an Erion full system on my first RC51, it was a good system and with the custom map, it delivered decent gains and was a nice system.

If you have a kick ass tuner to help, that is the difference. This winter Hord racing will be seeing my engine bits arrive so they can do their magic!

it all depends on the pipe design. Sato's for instance i know the banzai mounts put slightly less HP then the stock mount.....not enough to even be noticeable though. That being said it all depends on the pipe design, manufacturer, and bike. If high mounts adversely affected power i don't think companies like Ducati, Honda, and Triumph would use that design. And i don't think manufacturers like Termignoni, Sato, arrow, and others would produce performance exhasuts for race bikes in the WSBK and Superstock with this design.
