Thanks Tampa RC51, my sp1 story
So I use to race BOTT on a TL while my brother raced a SP1 back in 2002-04 we battled back and forth for a few years dumping allot of cash into these bikes. In the end my TL just didnt do the job and i ended up with several 2nd places while he brought home the 1st place trophies.
We moved onto inline 1000 me with a zx10R and he picked up a cbr 1000rr then the roles were flipped. Any how i sold my bikes a couple of years ago and recently go an itch to get another street bike.
I went to a salvage yard to pick up some parts for my buddies bike and there she was just laying on the ground missing the farrings, subframe, and a fork a 2001 rc51. I just had to have it so i picked it up for 1400.00 got her to our fabrication shop. put here up on some stands and realized i didnt know sh*t about this bike other then my brother kicked my ass on it. I tried for about a week and could get her to start. then i realized tere wasnt a cdi box on it (actually my buddy said hey whats this plug go to) so i bought one from Tampa rc51 here on the forum and in 2 cranks she fired right up!
man its been 7 years since i heard the sound of that vtwin. now originally we were suppose to both buy the sp3 if it was going to come out. Since it didnt and i own a fab shop i figured i would make my own so ill be starting a build thread on my custom rc51. Dont worry there will ot be any chrome. I got passed that stage about 15 years ago. noting but titanium aluminum and carbon fiber.
