Navy buddy hit by a deer Monday

Well, I was on base outside smoking Monday and all of a sudden I see 3 guys come running out towards me and yelling "head towards the heli pad, we have to do a medvac and need bodies." So, I went to the heli pad and found out that someone was hit by a deer on a motorcycle. At first I started thinking about all my guys but they had left a while ago, so i just figured it was some local civilian. I was def. wrong, my buddy William who rides a Yami XT250 enduro had stayed at work late and caught the deer coming out of a field bout 2 miles from base at 1615, broad daylight. Went to see him yesterday at UVA Medical Center and he's doing good (bike wasnt beat up to bad) but did break his left collar bone. Those of us riding in these country/rural areas be safe and alert..............I know sometimes you can't do anything because it just happens but keep a heads up anyways.

Scary. A buddy of mine almost hit a deer a couple years ago, I was behind him and seen the whole thing. He didnt see it until it lept right in front of him.

THere are lots of moose and deer in northern Canada. Go figure.

The Hornet Deer Avoidance System. Costs only $60. Proven effective in a study done by the State of Pennsylvania. Deer Whistles don't work!!
Motorcycle Consumer News gave it thumbs up and I bought two. Deer are my biggest fear when I ride the curves.

Glad he is ok man, I hope he has a speedy recovery. My Navy friend and his wife hit a deer here in Jax about 3 months ago and it was bad. Bike was totalled he came out of it with a broken wrist, dislocated shoulder, and completely snaped his femur. Wife broke her elbow and wrist. Funny thing is he was on the bike within a month haha. We all just shook our heads, but I know the feeling of not being able to ride so I respect why he was riding so quickly. Deer are a big fear to me here at night.
