RC51 vs 848

Nelson Ledges Intermediate Session #5 June 7 2014
The 848 accelerates so much better then the RC. We are pretty much equally skilled riders it was fun trying to hold him off.
He also posted a video from his camera mounted to the front of my RC

RC51 vs 848

Nice video. Makes sense that the 848 blazes past the RC since it is much lighter.

Looks like a fun track!

I'm not helping matters any by spotting him 30lbs in bodyweight either. Sessions are 20 minutes long and about the 15 minute point my knees are screaming. I could see by the video I'm not getting off the bike like I use to. Getting old sucks.

Haha...yeah the 30lbs only adds...so overall the bikes are putting down the same power, but there is about a 100lb weight difference

I know the knee pains...I'm about the same at the 15min mark. Try stretching your quads and hams between sessions...helps me.

The track is Nelson Ledges and it almost came to it's end this year. It's been there since I believe the 50's. The hard winter and years of neglect from the management left it in poor condition. The management was relieved of their jobs and the duties were turned over to the race director of Moto Series. Repairs have been started on the race surface and volunteer work is being used to keep up the facilities. The only money available is what is generated by the track. Help save this racetrack and come out and do a trackday or race. It would be nice not being the lone RC51 for once.

Wish I was closer to ride the track...sadly I just have to deal with Miller Motorsports Park being in my backyard

Good vid for sure. You can see the roughness of the track surface quite easily, hopefully the repairs come through and the historic course is secured for the future. Be a shame to lose such an icon of motorsport.

Duct tape can't fix stupid...but it sure helps muffle the sound

Luckily we have Mid-Ohio, Nelson and Pittrace all within a 90min drive. Pittsburgh is adding on to it's surface I can't wait till it's done. But to a lot of us Nelson is still our favorite, its a low key simple fun fast track.
