Suspension Q. to Crash Discoveries

2003 RVT1000 RC51 SP-2 dreilly
Well, I didnít make it through the gravel at the turn; and itís gravel I know about. (I did have an extra turn of front preload that morning and wasnít liking it much.) ATGATT! A crash where no one is hurt becomes almost funny except when you start to think about the money to fix the bike. So, I have a new hobby buying parts.
The right lower and the upper cowl were the major casualties. You can not buy an OEM upper cowl from a dealer. They are backordered until November. The uppers on EBay go for around a $100 and look worse than mine so, I ordered a Dremel kit and a glue system (Plastifix from Urethane Supply). I may be foolish enough, since Iíve got the hobby stuff, to cut holes for frame sliders. The right lower I bought OEM from Babbitt along with a turn signal. They cancelled the upper and sent me the lower w/o the turn signal. I bought another on EBay (which I just joined). Then comes Babbittís signal separately. When I attempted to return the signal Babbitt didnít even answer. Also, I finally realized OEM Parts and Accessories was cheaper than Babbitt. Many lower rights were on EBay, I realized too late. (MSRP on the LR cowl is $750, Babbitt $580, OEM $520, EBay $200 used) I learned about OEM from a post on the Forum.
Stock pipes, sliders, rearset, turn signal, fixing the cracked upper, I could muddle my way through. The paint thoughóis there another vendor than Color Right with pens of paint instead of cans?

Not to contradict you, but about a month ago I bought a new one from Carmichael Honda Motorsports. That was then...
If you wanna give them a try their number 916-944-1318.
You might look into plastic welding. my (professional) buddy did mine and it came out great. Got a couple pics of it in my gallery 'in progress'
I was lowering off my cheapy bike stand late one night recently, and tipped my bike into my tool box, breaking the upper. That's why I just bought a new one.

Hi Jondog: My info comes within the last 5 days, but from only 2 places--Babbitt and OEM where I ordered the upper cowl and they canceled--one said Nov 1st. thats all I know--That sent me to try to repair what I had and get the bike going-well that I'm going to screw up the repair-I'm clear. I kind of looked for pro help but no luck here in Springfield, MO. If I repaired the upper and drilled frame slider holes it would justify the $$. I'm commited to the repair for now--thanks for the Carmichael ##. dreilly

P.S. I heard from Babbitt today so they aren't totally ignoring me (referring to my neg comments above). No idea of outcome. Need a right turn sig??? huh??
