Rode my buddy's 954 in stock form except for PC and complete header/exhaust. Stock gears. Even the stock header is a beautiful piece.
I think the 954 would win in 1/4mi. all other things the same. They're pretty wicked once you get in that spooled up zone and stay there. Scarry!!

But then again, 1/4 mile is pretty short. The RC51 might take some familiarity, but maybe could be finessed to a win

As a former rider of a 954 and a 929 and yes, the RC51...ladies and gentlemen, the RC51....the 954 is you 1/4 mile winner.

In-line 4 and no replacement for displacement...as the saying goes.

yep, honestly its pretty hard to compare an older v-twin with an I4. Straight line it will lose just about every time.....even to the 600's.the 954 and 929 are nice bikes. would still love to add an erion racing edition 929 to my garage one day.....love that bike.

I've owned all three, both the 929 AND the 954 would clean house with my 51 in a quarter mile, it's just what it is. BUT neither one of those bikes can I ride as fast as the RC 51 on my technical Appalachian mountain roads. I have yet to try the newer 2007+ CBR'S so who knows what they are capable of? The RC51 just makes better use of it's power, it doesn't slip and oversteer........

I've never ridden a 929, but I know they're a wicked fast bike. not sure personally how they stck up against the 954, but the one I rode was very fast. The '08 CBR100rr is just a sweetheart of a bike, much faster than it feels tbh. Any bike that posts a record lap time at Willow Springs out of the box is a fantastic machine regardless of what current litre bike is spec'ing out at in the performance wars. The RC isn't the raw performer that the other three are, but it's (for me anyway) way more fun, and exits corners with a rush that I don't get on anything else I've ever been on. And I'm not a track rider so its real world performance I like.

Duct tape can't fix stupid...but it sure helps muffle the sound

My '06 was effortlessly fast and smooth as silk, by far the best balanced bike I've owned out of the Honda stable. The RC is just brute torque in comparison, and its sound wins hands down.

I agree, I have an '03 as well. Believe it or not I loved my '98 VFR 800 FI, it would easily lift it's front wheel exiting corners, sweet all around bike, with an amazing exhaust tone with the two brothers cans, (sounded like a 5.0 mustang)! I think the RC 51 sounds like a big block 428 FORD! Alas, all the new Honda bikes are just too strange looking to own, even the CBR 1000.
