Wondering what I have California model or not. Wondering is there is a quick way to see like looking underneath it to see if it has testicles or not LOL.

Talking

I think I figured it out. If i don't have Evaporative Emission Control (Can, purge valve solenoid) then its not a Cali model.

I guess I keep answering my own questions since Sailors away.

Run the GPS and if it shows you are in California.....well, there you have it.

Yes, emissions canister for the good people of California the rest of the "57 states" (President Obama's detail, not mine ) you must choke yourself and your vehicle......motorcycles and cars are bad bad things....they must be choked.

Anyway, I have spare emissions from two RC51's in my parts bin as I see them in the wild, catch them and inspect them and then set them free.

We are all pretty cruel neglecting this wayward canisters. I think we should send them all to a nice farm in Kansas where they can congregate and tell stories about the good old days when they used to run on two wheels. Seems like the humane thing to do in my view.

If you use a garmin, you'll get the craziest, non-sensical, albiet shortest route here. Be glad you don't live in UK. You could get pulled over and cited a heavy ticket if an officer notices any emissions stuff missing. Same with a worn tire and other safety stuff.

San Diego Law Enforcement doesn’t look at emissions control… If they did, all the Harley Davidson Bike on the road would be impounded. But, that being said…thanks to Arnold Schwarzenegger, our EX-Governator, it will all change in 2013. He signed into law a bill that makes it illegal to modify the exhaust in any way from factory supplied OEM exhaust systems on all bikes manufactured from 2013 and on… If you have ever seen what he rides (straight piped Harley’s) … well enough said…

Terrible, All those tractors... Removed from service...

I have looked at shop manuals for an answer to your inquiry...
All I could find -was that the US required japan to equip all RC-51 with the E.E.C /purge system...
Cost effecitive for just doing the whole lot.. Mine and yours...
And if you tell me that the state of CA is putting a sniffer no a motorcycle... To check your bike...
Hell - tell those pigs to find all those polluting "cages' rolling around....

That's what I thought. All RC51's were legal for CA emissions standards at time of manufacture. I've heard the term *CA model*, but not convinced there actually is one. I also know many other Hondas are 50 state legal accross the entire model. For example the 954. Every one made for the US market is 50 state legal. To the best of my knowlegde...
