Starting in gear????

The title says it all...my 03 starts in gear when you hit the button unless the clutch is in. A friend of mine said it's a neutral safety switch? Does anyone know what this is and where I could get one. The first time caught me off guard and I about lost the bike....and my wife lol. Thanks

Im not understanding
the bike will start in gear with the clutch in and kick stand up, will also start in neutral with kick stand down without clutch.

I'm pretty sure he's saying that it will start, in gear, whether or not the clutch is engaged...

Mine does that too. In first gear, not touching the clutch, kickstand up, she'll start. Saved my ass one time, being able to start it that way.

Your clutch switch is broken. Buy a new one or take it apart and fix it. Or just don't start your bike in gear.

Ya clutch interlock switch is done...little micro switch on the left handle bar. Should be 2 screws holding it in place. Remove have it tested with a multi meter if hooped replace.

The clutch lever micro-switch, the neutral switch, and the side stand switch all act together as a safety interlock system.

Shoot, now I'm gonna have to try that on my bike

Duct tape can't fix stupid...but it sure helps muffle the sound

I was amazed when it worked on my bike. My switch is plugged in too. I guess something's not hooked up, not worried about it...
