CT. DMV sucks!!!!!!!!!

i tried my 2nd attempt to register my 04 today here in CT. - what a fun time. the first time the woman at dmv told me that the seller made a mistake filling out the back of the title and i needed that person (a notary in N.C.) to fill out a letter of correction. the bike came from N.C. - after a couple weeks i got the letter and went today to register, after waiting 2 hours my number was called and the new woman at dmv asked me why i had the letter and told me i didnt need it!!!! she then told me i needed to go thru the inspection line to get a vin verification check. i knew that i had to because my previous bike (954rr)went thru with no problems. i had brought my rc with me in the back of my pickup to save time, i got in line at 12:30 to see that the inspection lane was closed for lunch 12 - 1. at 1:30 the inspector shows up and has me pull forward, i can tell hes in a bad mood, he tells me to unload the bike, i had to get out of line and unload, i push the bike to the back of the line and wait another 30mins, i push the bike up to him and he angrily asked me where all my lights are? he procedes to lecture me on how illegal my bike is and that i have to return it to stock condition to pass the vin verification, everything including the turn signals, reflectors, exhaust, chain guard, brake light and the oem rear fender!!!!!!! "wow" i said, "you couldnt tell me that before i unloaded the bike?", his reply was " did i even look at your motorcycle before you unloaded it?" i asked him " i thought you just needed to verify the vin numbers" his reply was "the vin check is for us to make sure the vehicle is road legal" i asked him " then why is it called a vin check? shouldnt it be called a full inspection?" he didnt like that and started lecturing me again, i had to bite my tongue and not argue with him anymore, because there is only 2 inspection centers in the entire state, pretty good chance i will see him again. I TOOK A DAY OFF FROM WORK TO REGISTER THIS!!! now i will need to buy a set of oem mufflers and chain guard, i have everything else but it needs to be rewired because the previous owner butchered the electrical... i had no problems with my 954, the inspector walked up to my truck and read the vin off the frame sticker and gave my pass - i hope to get the parts soon and maybe 3rd time will be a charm.....

Its ok, here in Colorado if you buy a bike out of state you have to pay to have the VIN verified (keep in mind i have the title in hand with my name it just from a different state). Only then can you go to the DMV to register it....needless to say i've been here 5 years and my Aprilia is still not registered. The DMV in every state is a just another source of revenue....however they can do it. I swear they just love to make life miserable.

As bad as it sounds, its almost not even worth registering.

Indiana is a breeze. A cop (real handy when your family contains one or two...) has to inspect the bike and fill out a one page form. Just take the form in and $85 later, you have plates...

My ass would be driving to a different location too. Ct is the size of a postage stamp for God's sake

Geez...Seems they have you by the balz here. ha, yeah maybe two.

Nice to know the DMV folks who make minimum wage in all of the states all have a complex! I do all of my stuff on line now a days just to avoid the shitty attitudes.

yep, i have to agree. I don't ride my Ape much anymore....just around the block. With kids you just can't play that game anymore....like you said the risks aren't worth it. I've just really given up on the process for now, i have not been home for a summer in a few years anyway so it hasn't been worth it. Again i'll be gone this summer and will miss the riding season, so maybe i'll get it done next year.

Sure no problem Madbuyer.....shipping will cost $7,000 for mine though

haha nope, not going to happen. Considered selling it at one point but i just can't do it. The year and color are rare and mine is close to immaculate....plus i love Aprilia. I run it at least once a week and ride it around the block every 2 weeks. One day it will be legal again.
