Scammed by a member.

I'm really bummed it's come to this, but I've got to out a member here. RC51anthony was selling his Akrapovic slip-ons and unfortunately I bought them. He started a thread explaining he was considering getting a Jardine 2-1, I shot him a PM saying I'd be interested in his Akras.
Check out the video of the pipes.

http://youtu.be/DA8ogK7E5iE

After viewing the video I told him via pm

He said yes and the cans are in quote "very good condition".

Well, they arrived Tuesday.
Left side can, rashed and dented

Left can, cracked but hidden by the band.

Left mid rash

Right mid, badly discolored

So, I immediately take a look at the video again, and well, I guess you can barely make out the damage on the outside, rash on the mid and can, but no evidence of the dent on the inside of the left can.
Next step was to contact Anthony and explain that we've got a problem, the system is not as I expected it and I'd just like to return it to him at my cost and would he refund my $. Or, if he'd rather, refund me $200 and I'll keep them. Long story short, his response was that it's not that bad, anyway I can just tell people I rail so hard I taped (yea, taped, like masking tape) it on the pavement...

So we went back and forth, I asked him just to man up, refund the cash and this will be done with. He then accused me of lying, flip-flopping my story, and why don't I just sell them and make a little money... Huh?

After it became obvious that he wasn't going to do the right thing I initiated a dispute with PayPal.

Anthony, you are going to lose the paypal dispute, you had the chance to make this right.

BUYER BEWARE

That's sucks. By no stretch of the imagination are those in "very good condition". I had the same thing happen to me on the FZ-1 forum a few years ago. Paypal did come through for me. Good luck. It would be nice if you could work out between the two of you.

Smart move using PayPal...I would highly recommend it to anybody doing a deal like this. I try to hear both sides of a story before I make a decision of who's in the wrong...those are wasted. How about it Anthony.....???...care to chime in?

Jesus man, that is tough to decipher...

Anthony, my biggest beef is that you made ZERO mention of any damage, ZERO!!! "Very good condition" was what you told me.

The dent aside (claiming I took a hammer to it is laughable), but how about the crack in the exhaust that was hidden by the strap? How did I sabotage that?? I'll let me record stand for me, an ENTIRE bike parted out without a single problem...
http://www.speedzilla.com/forums/hon...rack-bike.html

Now, after I call you on the damage, privately, you tell me it was from just rubbing on something? Come on man, not a single person, motorcyclist or not, is going to believe that.

I've got all the evidence I need, ie. photos, pm's, that video, etc... I'm going to get my money back, and you'll get your exhaust back.

After receiving the exhaust and looking at the video, yes I noticed the rash, if I looked really hard. The dent is on the inside, wouldn't be able to see it from the angle he was shooting from... But really? A guy who's been a member here a while, posts often, you'd think he'd clearly disclose that there is damage to the exhaust? And when asked the condition, "very good condition"?

And in the end, if someone wasn't happy with something I sold them, sure as hell I'd refund their money!

I'm really disappointed.
Anthony, you need to make this right. You'll loose all cred here, and at Zilla if you don't.

He should have told you about every scratch, nick, chip, dent, whatever? Them things are far from good condition...And the hammer thing is ridiculous, why the hell would someone take a frigging hammer to something they just bought is beyond me.

as far as the video, you can catch a gimps at the rash on the pipe but not the other damage so must have been from when he got the HRC stickers?

If I were you Anthony, I would have given him his money back and been done with it....he even offered to pay the shipping. Gotta agree with Jon on this one, I can get a feel on how this has gone by your response. Is your reputation worth not giving a $200 refund? Just looked at the video as well, not sure how you can duplicate road rash with a hammer?
