gas on top of tank

I have a problem every time i go riding i notice a yellow substance on the tank, i smelled it and it was gas. It seems to be coming from the left side of the filler. Do the gaskets go bad, or does the gas tank vent there. Any help would be great thanks.

Yes, these gaskets do go bad. They usually lose their elasticity or become hard. If they become too hard, they crack.

Yes, it is supposed to be there. Probably have to call this one in to a dealership for a seal.

This is mine...same, minus the rust. Is your o-ring in good shape in the locking cap?
