Tabs on tail connected to undertail broke

The tabs on both sides of the tail that bolt to the undertail broke off. I think I know why, the undertray was missing the two bolts that bolt to the subframe and I think hitting bumps and stuff it was too much pressure on the tabs with the undertray just bouncing up and down.
ANYWAY.........does anyone have any experience with mounting the undertail without it being bolted to the tail?
I was thinking with the undertray bolted to the subframe, and the undertail bolted to that, and maybe just put some double sided tapeon the edge around the undertail to keep the tail lined up right with it?

I hear you and I hate zip ties but you can hide them well between the undertray and subframe so you cant see.

Instead of cutting my rear fender straight across as many do (which leaves the undertail unsupported), I cut made a squared 'U' cust along the inner part of the subframe.

Such as this.

Then I used plastic scrap from the removed fender to fashion support tabs for the undertail.

The tabs are secured to the fender webbing near the rear mount

The fender is fully supported, and includes all the relay mount tabs.
The undertail was then attached to the fender by the new rear mounting tabs, plus two points at the front of the fender.

This left the middle plastic clip to not only secure the rear cowl, but it also acts as a third point securing the undertail.

Nice job, I'm going to have to fab some tabs. Unless I'm misssing something, you don't have the tail bolted to the undertail right? Just the undertail to the fender then to the subframe?

The fender supports everything.
By cutting the U-shape in the fender, all the support stays intact.
The fabricated undertail tabs provide additional support at the rear to prevent the undertail from flapping about. And it's pretty solid.
