RC51 Tops RIDER UK OWNER"S SURVEY

The SP-1 and SP-2 topped two categories for all Motorcycles in England (MAY 2012 issue):
Most Reliable
Quote: Race-Bred equals highly strung? Well, possibly- but it doesn't have to mean unreliable as Honda's built-to-win-World-Superbikes demonstrate. Good sporting performance needs high-quality components that are put together with care, and that means a bike that's built to last. The last SP-2 was built in 2007: five years later owners still rate it as the most reliable bike in RIDER Power.
Best Gearbox
Quote: Top honors go to Honda's mighty race-bred SP-1/SP-2. And producing a slick gearbox for a high-power V-twin is a real feat of engineering.

Best Build Quality. Finished in Second Place behind 08' CBR 1000RR.
Quote: Last years build quality champion, the Honda SP-1/SP-2 has been overtaken by the CBR1000RR. More than half the bikes in the top 20 have wings on their tanks. It is the only Japanese manufacturer to have a bike in the top 20.

I concur. Every time I work on mine I'm impressed with how well put together it is. It really doesn't seem like a production bike, at least none that I've owned.

Especially the gearbox...one of the smoothest shifting bikes I've ever had.

Can't compare the two first off the rc is a vtwin and the cbr is inline 4. Where do they got off trying to compare the two ok yes the top 20 have wings and I give it to Honda for putting together a great bike. But even with such a awesome machine it still has flaws. Like this dam gas tank issue lol but all in all I been a Honda owner from day one and will never go a stray.

Oops, 2008 and up CBR1OOORRs are the top rated in both the Build Quality and the Sportbike category over the SP-1/2 which placed second in build quality and 3rd in the category of Sportbikes behind the CBR and the new BMW1000RR.
Even though it's 7 years since last one was built, it still looks good and the SP-1 was given a "Possible Future Classic" rating.
I'll get the exact quote when I have my "English Motorcycle Porn" mag in front of me. A years' subscription costs over $100 each and I've had both BIKE and RIDE delivered for three years now. Porn is certainly addictive.
Winners by Class, Best Big Sportsbike: Quote "It's good to see the supremely well made Honda SP-1/SP-2 still polling well with owners. CLASS never goes out of fashion."
