instrument cluster questions.

My SP1 is a euro model, instrument cluster is metric of course, If I was to change out the ECU to a USA version, would it change the speed reading to mph, and would it show the miles traveled from the donor ecu?

distance traveled is stored in the instrument cluster so you should be good

Thanks, I assume then it would also keep the speed reading in KM/H?

i am going to say yes but im not sure.... the US spec cluster is the only one that can change from mph to kph the only thing i would worry about is if it will work with a us ecu... what do you want to change to a US ecu for?

I have the opportunity to get a SP1 at a good price because its not running, its been diagnosed with a bad ECU, the cost of a new ECU here is the same price as what I could get the bike for, so a used ECU from the US is the best option(parts are rare as hens teeth here).A buddy of mine is running a ECU from the US in his CBR with no problems, just wanted to check to be sure.

I have a euro RC51 and I installed TB's and ECM from a US model and they work just fine. No problem at all.

OK so I got a USA spec ECU, and took the 5 hour drive to check out this SP1,well it was a waste of time as the condition was way worse than described over the phone so walked away.I did hook up the ECU to my SP1 and ran fine with the instrument cluster working normal,so at worst I had a long drive for nothing, but now have a spare ECU.

How long of a drive could it have been? NZ isn't that big j/k

You are one up on the rest then since you have a spare ECU. Keep it stored in an anti static bag with a dessicant bag for safe keeping.
