Harley VS. RC51

My RC got beaten by an old dude on a Harley at the track. Well sort of. As I was parked at the entrance to Road Atlanta and was reaching for my ticket to enter the gate the guy behind me had a senior moment and dumped his clutch and slammed right into the back of my bike. I looked back and he was on the ground. I helped him pick up his bike and we checked for damage on his and mine. His chrome had a knick or two but mine appeared to be OK so we just moved on. Later on I noticed my right can was all jacked up and the spool on my swing arm was busted off. In the end me and my RC were the biggest loser's. My bike took a beating as it turns out. I wonder if anyone has had any welding done on their swing arm. If the swing arm metal is cast the weld process would be more complicated. What type of aluminum is it and can it be welded by healy arc without heating the whole damn thing to 4 or 5 hundred degrees as would be required for cast metal. Fortunately I still have the spool that broke off.

The area where the spools are welded to are the extruded part of the swing arm. Welding this should be no problem.

As for the can. that sucks.

Aw, it's an affectionate slag. I ride mostly with HD guys with either bike. Wing scares 'em with all the switches and stuff, and the RC simply astounds them. Sucks to be me hehe
