And now for something completely different...

This is something you'll only ever see (or hear late at night when trying to sleep in a city) in Japan. Bosozouku bike gangs. They take 1970's - 80's bikes and customise them with open pipes. Their aim is to ride together and cause disruption by riding slowly, weaving along the road and playing tunes with their throttles & clutches.
The most pointless use of bikes but anyway, it's different. Police don't usually stop them, preferring to avoid trouble as typically these gangs don't like authority.
Might be amusing to watch, but kinda stupid. Most real bikers don't like Bosozouku gangs - just anti-social noise pollution!

This is a video of Police training in Japan. They don't use bikes to chase speeders, it's considered dangerous to other road users to get into pursuits. They tend to use bikes to control traffic when protecting VIP's, or sometimes for speed traps.

Anyways, interesting to see these bikes being hussled in Gymkhana training. They all have wider & higher bars and big crash protection steel (Chromed) bars on the sides. Honda built VFR750's specifically for this. It was called the 750P model in Japan.

These are later VFR800P's.... in the rain!

I have seen these before but they are very fun to watch. It would be great to see American police do this with their Hogs...the smell of scraping chrome just makes me....laugh

No, they're much more annoying!

Years ago on one of Tokyo's main highways traffic was cruising at a steady but very slow speed... I slowly weave my way through to the front and find 3 Bosozouku bikes each weaving along it's lane blocking everybody.
Of course, the Japanese just sit behind them patiently - but I wasn't going to sit & wait.
They clocked my car and realised I was a foreigner (Foreigners tend to be much less predictable in their behaviour so Japanese are usually cautious of them ) as I changed down and floored it through their parade.
The road ahead was completely empty for miles!!
Similar stuff has happened on other occasions.
Surely Harley riders aren't as anti-social there...

...On the bike I'm usually just a brief glimpse before Bosozouku disruption is forgotten history.

LmAO that was funny. For a minute or so.
I could see how this would be obnoxious off the hook for longer than that.

Hilarious that white minivan mixing it up with them in the end. Or was that you Stig?

love this:
