Interesting write-up. Brand new 2007 model year??? I'd like to see the VIN sticker. What do you bet the last 8 digits are 6M6xxxxx?

Brand new 2007 year model but unregistered Honda VTR1000 SP-2. Delivered to us direct from Honda UK and completely unrun (this bike has never had fuel in it). Complete with spare keys, owners handbooks and delivery literature. Always carefully stored in climate controlled surroundings and part of our our Managing Director's own collection of classic Honda motorcycles. Finished in the final Graphite Black with black frame colour combination, this SP-2 is one of the last to be produced.
The SP-2 continued the racing tradition established by the SP-1 and is a very fine handling machine on road or track - a 'Superbike' in the truest sense of the word. Despite it's obvious race-breeding, the bike is very rider friendly round town, but it is on the twisties that the SP-2 really comes into its own. The 133 bhp 8-valve 90 degree V-Twin motor has spades of torque, and is the perfect partner for the sharp handling chassis.
If you want to add a truly special SP-2 to your collection this one is probably the best and certainly most original example now available.

RED, As New 2000 year model Honda VTR1000 SP-1. Delivered to us direct from Honda UK as a new bike in 2000 and completely unrun (this bike has never had fuel in it). Complete with spare keys, owners handbooks and delivery literature. Always carefully stored in climate controlled surroundings and part of our our Managing Director's own collection of classic Honda motorcycles. One of the first batch of bikes delivered to Honda UK in 2000, this is technically an SP-Y model. The SP-1 features a 998cc V-Twin motor which fitted the 1000cc capacity limit for the World Superbike series and in 2000 Colin Edwards won the Championship on his Castrol backed factory RC51, as the bike was known in the USA and Japan. This one is probably the best and certainly most original example now available. Serious enquiries only please to John Brown : 0161-432 1303. Hunts Motorcycles, Manchester. I'd be surprised if they sell either bike for near the asking price. There's a brand new never been run RC30 for sale for the same money somewhere.... now that's probably more realistic!

Oh, seems I was mistaken. £60,000. Yikes! Same seller. Doubt they'll get this much for it though. I guess they feel the market for collectible motorcycles has peaked?

About 6 months ago I was discreetly asked if I knew of a buyer wanting one, via a contact here in Japan in the industry who knew of a crated RC213V-S for sale privately. The asking price was considerably above the original retail price. You can't just order one as you usually would of any other Honda from a dealer. Special bikes.

I didn't know of anybody with that kind of money to spend on a bike, so couldn't help him. I remember the NR750 when it was new and how difficult they were to sell too; back then the world economy was considerably better than now.

There must be a few of these top shelf bikes sitting pretty in their crates waiting for well heeled investors to snap them up, unlikely to be seen out on the roads over a sunny weekend any time soon...
