Project Shadow Killer

Because I'm stupid, and impractical, instead of replacing the 1100 in my '85 Shadow, with another 1100 (my 3rd gear is gone, my cam tensioners are toast, which possibly cooked a valve, and headgasket issues, methinks). I'm swapping in, or going to attempt swapping in, a nice SP2... Just gotta give the SP2 a once over before she goes in...

I may have to re-angle the forks, but I kinda hope not... Width wise they're pretty close, so that's not bad... I'll need an adapter to go from my shaft drive wheel to a sprocket.

Also, she's getting geared 15/45. With the taller tire on the bike, on paper, she'll hit about 143MPH at top speed... Not that I ever plan on going there, lol.

Progress will be slow, but I do plan on keeping things updated as much as possible.

Looks like a fun, but lengthy project....

The Shadow engine looks to be a much narrower V-twin angle than the RC. Can that shadow chassis can take the power? You will be going from 50 to around 130 hp.........

45* vs. 90*

My 85 had 78hp and about 73 lb-ft of torque when new... The SP2 has 136 and about 78 lb-ft... Should be good.

Torque is what breaks things, lol. Plus the frame is built to handle more weight.

My radiator is definitely going to be relocated, lol

See some big challenges here but then again if it was easy, anybody could do it, best of luck....

So far, so good... Looks like I won't have to tear into the engine... Did a cold compression test, with the throttle closed, because I wanted to make sure it was worth putting in without tearing it apart, first... Bike was also, apparently in gear, as the sprocket was turning, lol.

138 - 140 for the front cylinder, and 150 for the rear isn't bad at all... I know it's supposed to be at 176, but motor is cold, lol. Will probably adjust the valves before she goes in.

Compression testing is done with the throttle OPEN.

Yep, and at operating temp... Which isn't possible, lol. I forgot to open the throttle
