How to pass winter months?

Hey everyone. I’m going nuts here in PA. I did get to go out for a couple hours last weekend, but overall the weather is freezing and precipitation makes roads unsafe for riding. I knew it was going to be hard to wait out winter but this is harder than I thought. I’ve been cleaning things on the bike, making small adjustments here and there. I’ve installed a Speedo healer and I’m waiting on the gear indicator from healtech as well. I’m watching MotoAmerica on YouTube, but I’m still going nuts. What do you guys do to pass the time when it’s not riding season?

Pretty much the same thing as you...... go nuts! At any rate my SP-2 is down and Im collecting parts to rebuild the engine. I bought a so called low mileage engine last year off eBay and after a few commutes to and from work that motor died on me one morning. It sounded bad when it shut down and I had a co-worker bring me home. Fortunately I had another V Twin to ride so I put her away until now. Got a chance to pull the heads and the rear was fine but the front snapped one intake valve and bent the other and pretty much destroyed the combustion chamber. Figured it was done until I came across another SP-2 front head dirt cheap! So I. Gonna spend the winter months building my first motor! Between the service manual ... this forum and YouTube Im pretty confident Ill get it done. New oversized OEM pistons, Crank & rod bearings, replace all bolts that should be replaced along with new seals and OEM head gaskets and Ill be breaking in a fresh motor. No need to try to make more power it had all I needed. My suspension was upgraded already so Im just going to get her back on the road.

I'm in the south east US , I ride year round unless it rains or it's below 50* and it's never below 50* for more than a few days in a row.

So far, we've not had much off a winter.
so i've been riding almost daily, commuting 110 miles a day. On the VF500F2 mind you.... :-)

as for the other pastime..

"been messing up my days
spoiled all my plans
so I say to myself
I can still use my hands!!!"

Syncing cilinder #4 (FR) on the wee V4 is a BIATCH!!!!!!!!

You need to open op the throttle just a smidgen, use a flexible ratchet you make 2 opposite angles.... :-(

Old enough to know better, young enough not to care.

Thank you for confirming it's not just me! My sole motorcycle is "winterized."

I've been searching CL and Copart for a winter project. So far all I have found is over-priced 20+ year old sport bikes, seriously "worked" specimens and complete garbage.

Looking forward to reading the replies. I'm ready to start considering a 2-stroke dirt bike just to stay busy!
