2002 sp2 fuel pump

So I've got a 2002 sp2 that's never given me any problems, all maintenance kept up on schedule, 26000 miles now.
It sat out in a light rain for half an hour the other night (only time it's ever got wet besides washes).
went to ride it yesterday, started easy, i let it warm up for 2-3mins like always hopped on went a block and it died. Then it would only fire and run for a few seconds and die, confirmed the pump was priming via relay click and pump whine with flipping the kill switch.
got it in the garage this morning and checked spark from the rear cylinder plug boot, it has spark! Yay, but now the pump is NOT priming, I can hear a relay click when I turn the key or flip the kill switch, but no pump whine.

Any ideas? I'm assuming the pump went out?

Before getting too worked up, check and make sure you didn't accidentally unplug the power connector for the fuel pump while getting back there to pull the plug boot.

Years ago I had a very similar issue. That's when I discovered my BA relay was failing.
Like you, my bike stopped priming. I swapped the highbeam relay into the BA and my prime came back, bike fired and ran.
I bought 3 relays from Honda, and about a week later my FP relay gave out too.
Now I keep a couple relays on hand but haven't had any relay issues since.

On the left hand side of the bike, just after half way along, around the back of the fuel tank is a black connector with 3 wires going into it.

A Green, a Brown/Black and a Brown.

With the bike switched off, undo this connector and put 12v across the forward/front half of the connector. Ground is the green, +12v on the brown wire.

FYI - The other end of the forward-half of connector you have, goes straight to the tank and pump. So, if you put a voltage across it, the pump will run.
