Question about con rod bearings
Hi Guys, I race an old 1983 Honda CX650 turbo in landspeed racing. Part of the problem with these fossils is parts. I can scrounge a few parts, but other things like pistons, cams, valves, springs, etc. have to be fabricated. All of the bearings sold out years ago. I checked on having them made and they were "only" $10 each if I ordered 300, plus set up fees. I have no desire to get in the business, so the search continued.
I heard that the Super Hawk has similar 43mm journals, so I ordered a pair of rod bearings and they may work. I am wondering if anyone knows if the RC51 bearings are different from the VTR1000F? They show a different part number, just curious if anyone knows? Does anyone know what the bearing makeup is for these, are they bi metal or tri metal?
The turbo bike in stock, bulky bodywork runs 135 in the mile. Our fastest top speed for a naturally aspirated 650 in streamlined bodywork is 163 at Bonneville. We spin the old push rod motor to 11,000 on occasions.
If anyone has any used RC51 bearings that they don't need, I would gladly pay for shipping if you could send me a pair so I can compare their fit.
Thanks for any tips, or advice
