2000 RC51 Rear brake light issue

Ok here is my dilemma.

Back brake light does not work. The front does. I went to adjust the light switch and it's not there. There is no switch where it should be. I know it worked when the mech. did the safety 3 years ago. I could not ride much last season due to shoulder surgery and it didn't work then. First season it was fine. Where the oil screw is on top of the master cylinder, there is a small red solenoid type thing with 2 wires coming out of it. In photos of stock RC's this is not there. Is this some sorta aftermarket setup or a hackjob thrown together. I have pics I can post if needed. This is off putting.

Rear brake pedal

Ok guys.

Here is a pic of my rear brake as I bought the bike. Keep in mind that what ever this set up is, worked when I bought it. The mechanic lit the rear brake light and checked it during the safety right in front of me.
